About Our Study Manuals

About Our Course

About Our Bundles

This Law Textbook provides a thorough, up to date and practical review of administrative law (including judicial review) and human rights law.

You will read about the European Convention on Human Rights, and the protection of human rights in the UK, distinguishing absolute and limited rights. You will then read about qualified rights, and the conflict between different rights and freedoms.

The second half of the book examined judicial review and the grounds for judicial review, before looking in detail at the procedure for bringing a claim for judicial review, and the appropriate remedies. Finally the book examines public order law.

About the author:  Nancy Duffield is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Law, having previously studied law at Oxford University before qualifying as a solicitor. She has extensive experience in teaching and designing courses and materials across a range of subjects and levels, specialising in all aspects of public law (constitutional and administrative law and human rights) and family law

This book is part of a series of 8 textbooks that have been specially designed to cover academic law for students converting to law. Published and updated regularly, these user-friendly study manuals are designed to help you successfully acquire knowledge and understanding of the foundational law of England & Wales.
They provide solid knowledge and understanding of fundamental legal principles and rules, while bringing the law and practice to life with example scenarios based on realistic client problems.

Each title is designed to operate as a study manual, rather than solely a textbook. This means that understanding of the academic law is developed using worked examples and activities, as well as more traditional explanation of legal principles.

The textbooks are used alongside other learning resources to prepare students not only for achievement of an academic qualification, but also for a future life in professional legal practice.
The legal principles and rules contained within this study manual are stated as at 1 July 2022.
