This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the key foundation areas of English law, aligning with the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s specification for Functioning Legal Knowledge (FLK) required for the SQE.

It is suitable for those who may have studied law before or current practitioners who want to learn the fundamentals.

The core topics covered include:

English Legal System and Constitutional Law (including Retained EU Law)
Contract Law
Tort Law
Constitutional and Administrative Law
Criminal Law
Land Law
Trusts

If you have already studied some of these foundational areas, you may choose to purchase individual SQE Law Essentials modules separately to tailor your learning.

Course Details

This course does not include exams and does not lead to an academic award.
Practice assessments are included in each module to help you anticipate the demands of SQE1.
On successful completion of the SQE Law Essentials course, including practice assessments, you will be able to progress onto our LLM Legal Practice (SQE1 & 2).
This course is designed to help prepare you for the SQE1 assessments.
Please note: The SQE1 assessment fee (£1,622 / HK$16,220.00) is not included in the course fee.

Online booking for each intake closes at 12:00 GMT on the start dates noted above.

After completing this course, you can progress on to our SQE1 Preparation Course or LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) and continue the path to qualify as a solicitor.
